New!

2011: Miranda was recently nominated for a Spirit of London award for achievement through music, making the final 3 out of 5000 nominations. For this she met David Cameron as well as having a video shown to a 4000 strong crowd including VIP guests at the Royal Albert Hall.

Beginnings

Miranda first picked up a flute at age 11, with sax shortly following. Her love of performing came from playing gigs with her band Juggla Heroes from 2004 – 2006, it gave her the chance to experiment with sounds and gain a grasp of extended techniques and improvisation. She was also helped by the producer Ben Startup who gave her the chance to play with House and Drum and Bass music for the first time, leading to recordings with the Tali Trow Collective in which she featured on two albums.

In 2009 she graduated from the University of Leeds in Popular and World Musics, studying with Jennifer George. Miranda has been a member of the Camden Light Orchestra, show pit bands in the North East, 21st century groups, Cuban Charanga bands, and her own band MindFunk. In the band MindFunk Miranda was the lead singer, flautist and saxophonist gigging regularly around the North East area and also featuring in local recitals.

Gig credits include:

2009: Performing in Northern Queensland as part of the Mal Hamilton Collective
2010: Featured artist performing at the Lewisham Sampler Festival as part of their Guerrilla Gig series.

2010 – Current: Flautist and backing singer of the live band for rapper Fuse ODG
